Amber Black is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Georgia. She earned her Master’s in Professional Counseling at Georgia State University in 2009 and completed her internship counseling at-risk female youth, many who had been exposed to trauma and abuse. She continued her career in the community counseling setting providing therapy to youth, families, and adults. She has extensive experience working with a variety of issues ranging from mild adjustment difficulties, depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, grief, family and relational problems, multicultural issues, severe trauma, and personality disorders. She facilitated group therapy with teens involved with the Juvenile Justice system in order to develop healthy living skills and coping strategies. In 2012, Amber began her work as the Executive Director of a local non-profit. She gained valuable experience leading a team of employees and providers to serve teenage girls in the healing process from past emotional wounds and traumas as well as developing skills to achieve future goals. After 5 years, Amber followed her passion to help others work through life’s obstacles by starting a private practice providing counseling and coaching to teens and adults. Amber has excellent rapport building skills and is able to quickly help clients feel comfortable and at ease. Her theoretical orientation is Choice Theory and she tailors her use of interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, based upon the unique needs of the client.
